Bloomberg News published an article today putting the lie to Navient’s claim to helping manage student debt. In a court filing, the company (which used to be part of the Sallie Mae US federal student lending agency) said it was a conflict of interest to help students. Their primary role is collecting on loans.
Dear students:
Companies and governments who lend you money for your education are dangerous predators, and you are their lawful prey. That doesn’t mean you should not borrow any money. It does mean you should be very careful. Don’t borrow too much money. Pay it off quickly. Don’t ignore bills or payments.
